It is a town located in the South of the Ligurian Apennines and it includes towns scattered in the upper valley of the Olba Torrent.
Martina d’Olba is located on the right hand side of the torrent, while San Pietro d’Olba is a popular mountain resort.
It is an old possession of the Taglietto Abbey and it was a court of Acqui that was donated together with the castle to the Bishop of Acqui in 891, but the castle was destroyed in the 11th century.
Known as Urbs and Urba in 981 and 1002 imperial diplomas it followed the events of Sassello because it pertained to this town until 1798.
The local government of Urbe was built in 1929 with the nearby communities of Martina d’Olba and Olba.
The Parish Church of San Giacomo at Martina d’Olba was consecrated in 1633 and inside you can admire an 18th century marble alter.
The Parish Church of San Pietro d’Olba is a 1775 reconstruction that was later modified.
The main economical resources derive from agriculture (potatoes, legumes, fodder), cattle raising, the exploitation of woods, and mushrooms and recently by summer tourists. There are also very welcoming hotels and various restaurants.
