How to get there: exit at Finale Ligure (Highway A10 Ge-Ventimiglia) and go towards the Via Aurelia and from Finalborgo take the street that goes to Perti.
Very charming is the path along the old “Strada Berretta” that opened in 1666 in order to unite Finale with the Spanish possessions to Milan. The origins of Perti were lost in the mists of time. You can admire the “Villaggio delle Anime” and the “Caverna di Pollera” that have karst origins and that make up a great cultural patrimony relative to the Neolithic period and the Metal Age. The beautiful church of St. Eusebio dates back to the late 14th century and it has a Romanic crypt with a look out located on the four central columns that date back to the previous 11th century construction. The ceiling and the sarcophagus of the late medieval period and the fragment of a Roman tile that has a Paleo Christian inscription dates back to 362. This highlights the importance of building that is considered to be the oldest date of Ligurian Christianity.
A few minutes from the Gavone Castle that still dominates the Finale territory you will come across the residential area of Perti that is tied to its vicissitudes and its maritime history. The Castle dates back to the 12th century and it was destroyed by the Genovese and rebuilt in the 15th century by Giovanni I Del Carretto. It then followed the history of the noble family of Savona that was demolished in 1713 by the Genovese Senate. You can admire the 15th century Diamanti Tower that was built by Alfonso I and entirely decorated with a Po Valley influence. Inside you can admire magnificent frescos that portray mythological scenes as well as grotesque decorations reveal the noble soul of the ancient home. Very unique is the Church of NS di Loreto also known as the Cinque Campanili and it has Renaissance origins. The architectonic model that has a square base with a small presbytery with a hemispherical cupola on four arches highlights the shape of the Portinari Chapel at St. Eustorgio in Milan.
Fantastic walks among Perti’s green nature can be enjoyed. You can also admire the Montesordo Valley that is a fossil valley dominated by the enormous rock. However, it is beautiful to go and discover the beauties that the valley offers as well as admire the great historical and cultural patrimony that Perti offers its tourists. When walking among the green nature of Perti you can rest in shady areas located in the middle of precious vineyards.
