| Silvano d’Orba is full of churches and monuments of great architectonic and historical prestige. Located near the Castle you will find the Church of St. Peter that has only one nave and during the 15th century it became the Parish Church thanks to Adorno. The main alter and the baluster are made out of fine marble. Inside you can also admire alters of the Virgin and St. Joseph that has a stucco statue. When you enter the church you will notice a great and beautifully decorated organ. |
The Church of St. Pancrazio is located on another hill that can be reached by passing under the majestic ruins of the Zucca Castle. Originally it was a small oratory that can be noticed by looking at its primitive door that was made out of large stones. The Oratory of St. Sebastiano has ancient yet unknown origins. In 1774 the Parish Church was being built. In the beginning it had two naves and later a third one was added. |
The Madonna della Pieve is located about two kilometers form the residential area. In the past it was called Santa Maria di Prelio and it is believed that it was built during the 6th century and it is one of the oldest churches of the Tortona Diocese. During the 17th century the Marquis Maddalena Adorno wanted the church to be restored and it was then renamed Pieve. The St. Rocco Chapel at Mulino dates back to the 16th century and it is located in the town of Mulino. Its structure is still intact however many of its frescos have been ruined throughout the centuries. The Setteventi Chapel is dedicated to the Madonna delle Grazie and it the past it contained only one shrine. In 1944 the inhabitants of the area financially contributed to the widening of the Chapel. |
