The Adorno Castle was built in 1492 and it is a massive quadrilateral structure that has four mighty squared based towers that highlights this powerful symbol.
Inside, the castle is richly furnished and it has a fine art collection as well as precious objects of great interest. |
Not far away you can admire the Romanic ruins of the ancient Torrazze Castle that was destroyed in 1446. Its documentations date bake to 1182 when it passed from the Marquis of Monferrato to the Marquis of Del Bosco and then to Alessandrini. During the 13th century it underwent a series of passages between the Marquis Del Bosco and the Genovese. Unfortunately the castle cannot be visited. |
You can admire the ruins of two stone towers located near the Orba and Piota Torrents. The ruins highlight the existence of a complex stronghold that probably extended throughout the area where the cemetery is now located. Its construction dates back to the late Medieval period even though tradition wants it to belong to the Roman city of Rondinaria that was destroyed in the 12th century. |
