How to get there: exit at Serravalle Highway A7 Genoa-Milan.
Serravalle marks the Genovese and Tortonese boundaries and its place-name dates back to the 7th century.
The urban fabric of the town developed along the Scrivia torrent on late Medieval walls. It gradually spread to the hills where a stronghold was built and today you can visit some of the ruins.
The town as well as the old town center widened and this highlighted the new structure of the Piedmont town.
After having escaped the barbaric raids, the survivors of Libarna built an even more protected residential area.
The area of the Roman military station on Via Postunia became an important center during the Imperial epoch.
Here you can see the ruins of the Amphitheater, the Theater, and aristocratic homes that have beautiful mosaics.
The Parish Church built in 1569 is dedicated to St. Martin and Steven.
It is easily recognizable because of its 3 naves and its artistic quality.
There are canvases by Giovanni and Andrea Carlone as well as Bernardo Montessoro. These artistic pieces go well with the prestigious Serrassi Organ.
Very interesting is the Oratory of the “Bianchi e Rossi” Confraternity.
Nearby there is the Monte Spineto path which is dedicated to Mary.
There are small hilly areas that highlight the large industrial valley.
