...It's Valley...
It’s worth taking a closer look at these places:
The Stura Valley: if you travel along the Apennines from Voltri, after passing the Turchino tunnel you will come across the Stura Valley after passing many interesting towns that lead to Ovada. The first town that you will come across is Masone that is located 433 meters from where the Vezzulla Torrent meets with the Stura Torrent and it is an important summer resort. In the past it was a feud of the Malaspina dei Bosco family and then that of the Pallavicini family.
Continuing along the road you will come across Campo Ligure, which was once called Campofreddo. It is a picturesque town that has become a popular resort during the summer and winter.
Since 1884 it has become important thanks to the filigree industry.
Where the Gargassa Rio meets the Stura Torrent there is Rossiglione and nearby there is Tiglieto with its abbey. A few kilometers before Gnocchetto you will find yourself in the Piedmont Region and from here you can reach Ovada.
The Scrivia Valley: from Genoa continue along the Polcevera Valley and from here you will reach the Passo dei Giovi. You will travel along the lower passes of the Apennine Mountains, which leads to the Scrivia Valley and its surroundings.
Busalla: can either be a place of business or a wonderful summer resort along with the nearby towns of Savignone and Crocefieschi. Ronco Scrivia is located on a plateau that contains the ruins of a Castle that was the residence of the Spinola family since 1316. Isola del Cantone was also a feud of the Spinola family and it is located where the Scrivia Torrent meets the Vobbia Torrent, very interesting to visit is the Castello della Pietra (Rock Castle).
Arquata Scrivia was built on top of the ancient Libarna, which was the center of the Ligurian’s and in the 2nd century B.C. it was a Roman military station. Later it became an imperial feud of the Bishops of Tortona, of the Estensi, Malaspina, and Spinola families.
The town stretches out on the opposite side of the Scrivia Torrent while on the left side it meets with the Valley of the Borbera Torrent. Serravalle Scrivia is a well-known industrial area as well as an important road and railway network. From here you can reach the important towns of Gavi and Novi Ligure.
Of great interest is the archeological area of Libarna where you can admire the ruins of the amphitheater, the theater, and the residential buildings.
This ancient city is quoted by Plinio il Vecchio and it was situated on the Via Postumia.
