The Refuge of Lerma
When you leave the church, on your right hand side you will see a slope that leads you to the refuge.
It was built on a steep spur and therefore it couldn’t be fortified and it is placed on a North West – South East axis.
The refuge had to entrances: one near the valley and the other near the castle.
From the main road there are roads that branch off into other residential areas.
Very interesting is there typology because they have a typical structure of two openings that lead to the lower floor and the upper floor.
Very interesting are other constructions such as the roads and some are made out of brick and date back to the 15th century.
Very interesting are the portals that are in stone (the oldest ones date back to the 11th and 12th centuries.
From the lower entrance of the refuge there was a path that led to the valley floor and it coasted the torrent an in the past is reached the Church of St. John.
