The Gavi Portino |
The streets of Gavi stir up great emotions to those who carefully observe them.
Among the monuments that highlight its origins there is the “Portino.” It is the only survivor of the four entrance doors that led to the town.
It was part of a defensive system that surrounded the entire town of Gavi. |

Parallel to the main street there are two churches, the Oratory of the Bianchi and Turchini, and this is where the majestic door is located.
It dates back to the first years of the 13th century and the massive structure has a tower with a rectangular base as well as four sloping roofs and it also has a wide arch.
The building was made out of limestone just like many of the other older buildings of the town.
