It was domain of Orbetenghi Parodi family that exerted their power from the castle: afterwards, in 1164, it passed to the command of Marquis of Monferrato, Guglielmo il Vecchio, following the instructions of Federico I.
In 1435, Casaleggio Boiro, after the domination of Francesco Sforza, becomes domain of the powerful Spinola family which administrated it till 1705 when Savoia family took control of the feud.
The castle, today still visible, stands on a rise in the shape of a spire and it gives great fascination to the whole village.

The peculiarity of its perspective dilatation of the shapes made it excellent, during the making of the movie “The Betrothed”, as the best set for the “Castle of the Innominato”.
