SPINOLA ADORNO Castle

Always at Cantalupo Ligure in the community of Borgo Adorno there is the ancient Castle of the Spinola family that dominated the entire valley for many years.
Situated at 800 meters above sea level the castle of Borgo Adorno dominates the entire area.
The fort was property of the powerful Genovese family until 1518 and in this year, since Tolomeo Spinola didn’t have any legitimate heirs he left all his belongings to the children of his friend Agostino Adorno.
Because of a massive mudslide that occurred at the end of the 17th century the castle was severely damaged and the Marquis Luigi Botta Adorno built a new noble palazzo that can still be admired today.
