At the Rocchetta Ligure fork you can reach Vignole Borbera (exit at Vignole Borbera Highway A7 Genoa-Serravalle) go towards Alta Val Borbera. After passing Albera Ligure there is Cabella Ligure.
The hilly center is located at the foot of a windy street that leads to Cosola and to the ski resort of Passo del Giotà.
Cabella has late Medieval origins and it followed the historical vicissitudes of the nearby towns and it enjoyed the domination of the Pallavicini, Spinola, and Doria families.
Some of the important inhabitants of Cabella became consuls of the Genoa Republic and the town has always been proud of this special bond.
Although today it is of the Piedmont territory the denomination “ligure” indicates its loyalty to its past as part of the Ligurian territory.
Palazzo Spinola-Doria-Pallavicini watches over the town in its 17th century structure that has been modified throughout the years.
There are only a few ruins of the Cremonte Castle, which was built a little before the year 1000 and it was used as a watch tower.
The religious artistic patrimony is part of the Spinola Families heritage. The Baroque Church of St. Lorenzo developed on the site of the old Oratory was widened in the second half of the 1800’s.
The two Sanctuaries of N.S. of Dovanelli and Madonna della Guardia are famous destinations for pilgrims.
It is very pleasing during any time of the year to relax in the sublime landscape of the area among walks in the woods that are full of raspberries and why not ski far away form the chaos.
