The Torre RATTI Castle |
 |
| Built on the right hand side of the Borbera River, the Castle is surrounded by fields and prairies and it is connected to the provincial street through the Borbera Valley. It is definitely of Roman times as demonstrated by the awesome basements as well as official documents that date back to 1413. The documents state that after the inhabitants solemnly swore loyalty it became a feudal territory by Ratti Opizzoni. He was one of the signers for the peace of Costanza and Ido Opizzoni, the first lord of the castle that began the Ratti family. He named the castle after himself and the entire valley became known as the Val dè Ratti. |
Originally the castle was in two distinct blocks situated on both sides of the Borbera River. |
In 1629 the square embattled tower was added and some improvements were made inside the castle. Later the two towers were widened and there was also the construction of the rooms in the southern part of the castle and today we can still admire this powerful complex.
