The Convent of Our Lady of the Annunciation

It was built in 1467 by the Dominican Monks of Santa Maria di Castello of Genoa at the slopes of small peninsula that was called the “island.” It remained a convent until the Napoleonic period, followed by a rapid decline.

It then became a seaside colony until 1982.

In 1996 it underwent a long period of restoration on behalf of the City Hall of Sestri Levante. Its main goal was to recuperate the entire monumental complex and thanks

to this restoration many elements that were destroyed during WWII were rebuilt. Today, the convent has become a congress center and it plays an important role in the entire Tigullio area.
Of great interest are the 15th century elements of the church and the traces of 17th century decorations that cover the baroque stuccos of the original late gothic brick structure.
