Coppa dell'Amicizia PIETRO CARLO BOSIO Civic Museum
The director’s speech: “the items that are displayed is the result of a many year collection from all over the world and I hope you will perceive this passion, which has carried me throughout my years of research of this magnificent art called filigree. I am very proud that these precious items can be shared with many people and I think this is the best way to appreciate the artistic level that has been obtained by thousands of artisans that unfortunately have remained unknown. Since I’m the “person in charge” it has always been easy to appreciate the technical and artistic value of these items and I’ve always been fascinated by the symbolic value of these precious objects, especially those that come from China. Our collection has been of great international interest, in fact, in Italy we have exhibited in Genoa, Imperia, Colorno, and Guardiaghele, but also in Moscow, New York, Frankfort, and Stuttgart, where I have brought items form Campo Ligure. It seemed logical to me that these items should remain at the Museum of Campo Ligure, which is one of the few places in Italy that still specializes in filigree. In fact this collection is able to represent fully its historic-cultural value as well as its artisan activity that is still flourishing.”
The director: Pietro Carlo Bosio
In one of the rooms of the Museum and Center of Documentation on Filigree contains instruments that are used to prepare the filigree. These antique tools that date back to the 18th – 20th centuries, which also included the fusion, welding, and twisting processes were carried out by children who would then rotate their tasks.

The Filigree for a one of a kind museum: “the way the thread is worked (even though I haven’t carried out many works, I have made a few in the most difficult and most beautiful way, therefore I will promise to reason). Art is very beautiful and when it is done well and understood it appears very pleasing to the human eye as well as that of the goldsmith’s.”
B.Cellini, a goldsmith’s object, II, 1568.
